A local resident, Bryony Landsbert is walking 23 miles – not a lot you say? After all that is like walking 4 times to Abingdon and back? Well, in that 23 miles and all within a 24-hour time span, Bryony is also attempting to climb over 11,000ft (equivalent to going up a domestic 15-step flight of stairs over one thousand times all within 24 hours!!).
Yes, Bryony is doing the National Three Peak Challenge: climbing Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis all within 24 hours on 30 May.
Why? Bryony says she is no mountaineer but does like a challenge (and this is a big one!). Having decided to do the National Three Peaks she was clear that she wanted to raise funds for:
Embedded in the community, the Abingdon DAMASCUS Youth Project provides vital support to so many of our often-vulnerable young people by supporting them and nurturing their mental health and wellbeing as they go through the challenges of transition to secondary school, their teenage years and into adulthood.
Bryony is using a fundraising page called 'wonderful' to collect sponsorship. This site ensures that 100% of your donations reaches the beneficiary charity.
Please Google 'wonderful fundraising Bryony' or go to www.wonderful.org and search for ‘Bryony’ to find out more and do donate (and gift aid) if you can – it will mean a lot and be received with grateful thanks.
If you do not wish to pay online, please contact Roxy Elford on 07875 649008 or Rita Atkinson on 01235 848694 who will have sponsorship forms.
